Outreach
The Lord will reply 'Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to me.'
Matthew 25:4
Acts of service are good for the soul. We strongly believe that there's liberation in selflessness and peace in the pursuit and defense of goodness. We each have something unique to offer the world and there are no limitations on how or where we harness our skills and act in service of others. No act of service is ever too small, no impact insignificant, no single cause more valuable than another. We are called to different things so, together, we can tackle a multitude of problems.
Our Volunteer Programs
Encore
Please note that Encore is closed for the month of January and will reopen Tuesday, February 4th.
Located on the lower level of St. John's, below Field Hall, Encore Consignment Shop has been in operation for more than 40 years! Also known as "The Sacred Sisterhood of the Cellar", Encore is both a treasure trove of wearable bargains, as well as a hub for fellowship for shoppers and volunteers alike. All proceeds go directly to Episcopal Church Women group to fund their many outreach projects.
New volunteers are always welcome!
Voicing Our Values
There are moments when the hardships and injustices in our world challenge our values, our resolve, and our faith. In those moments, it can feel as if the earth beneath our feet is shifting and we're left shaken and unsteady, scared and angry, exhausted and defeated—all of which are profoundly valid. But we can lean on one another, and on God, using our collective stability and the strength to regain our footing—albeit in a new position.
We may be positioned to reevaluate of our own beliefs, values, and shortcomings. Or we might hit the ground running, directing our energy outward by raising our voices in defense of what's right. Whether you vote for causes that better your community, protest injustices, support victims, or silently reframe your own thinking, any actions that advance good are acts of outreach and we celebrate them all. Here are some photos in celebration of our parishioners who are making the world better and doing us proud.

Beyond St. John's
Naturally, we love our outreach programs. But if you're looking for different opportunities, here are some organizations in the area that spread goodness. This is by no means a comprehensive list of what's available, but we hope it helps get you started!
Looking for help?
If you are in a life threatening situation, please call 911 or the 24h National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1 (800) 273-8255. You matter, you are enough, your mistakes do not define you, and you are not alone.
We always recommend calling, 211 to speak with a trained operator who can direct you to resources that can help. You can also visit our Resources page for a list of amazing organizations and programs in the area; you can filter based on your situation and your needs to help narrow down the resources that'll work best for you.
If you're looking for spiritual support, you've come to the right place. You can anonymously request a prayer on this page, or you can contact us directly and arrange to speak with our Rector, Fr. Patrick (he also holds office hours at the Starbucks in Barrington on Wednesdays from 11:30-noon). Our congregation is always around on Sundays to support you, if you just want to stop by and feel the support of a community.
