Adult Programs & Groups
The unknowability of God's truth can be daunting, so we opt to take our pilgrimage of faith together, collaborating to decode what God is asking of us. We meet with one another to discuss, debate, read, learn, and share perspectives and interpretations. We exchange insights and experiences, challenge assumptions and blindspots, confront the reality of injustice, deconstruct intention and action, and construct a framework of values and community support that we can lean on when our individual journeys of faith face stormy waters.
Education
Not Your Average Bible Study (Parishoner Lead)
Thursdays @ 7:30 a.m. via Zoom
Facilitated by members of our congregation, this group meets to read, examine, and contextualize the upcoming Sunday's Gospel text. The joy of this honest, judgement-free group is that no previous Bible study experience is necessary, and newcomers and regulars alike are welcome and encouraged to participate.
Monday Morning Bible Study (Clergy Lead)
Mondays @ 12:00 noon via Zoom
Lead by a member of clergy, this group thoughtfully explores a book of the Bible, coming together each week to read and discuss a chapter in the selected book. Currently, they are examining the Gospel According to Mark. If you would like to join please be in touch with Fr. Patrick at patrick@stjohnsbarrington.org for the Zoom login.
Sunday Adult Forum
Sundays @ 9:00 a.m. (between the 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. services)
Learning and growing in our faith is part of our life-long spiritual journey. For that reason, between the morning services on Sundays, parishioners congregate in Field Hall for various faith formation programs presented by clergy, parishioners, or guests designed to help us deepen of our faith and engage in lively conversation.
Episcopal 101
Once/twice a year on Sunday @ 7:00 p.m. in the autumn
