Our New Rector
The Reverend Robert K. Marshall is the 15th Rector of St. John's Episcopal Church, Barrington, Rhode Island. Robert began his call at St. John's on September 13, 2010. He was formerly the Associate Rector for Outreach and Young Families at St. John's Episcopal Church in Lynchburg, Virginia. His international mission work in Ethiopia, El Salvador, Belize, Mexico and elsewhere are something he hopes to experience with St. John's Barrington parishioners as well.

Robert received a Bachelor of Science degree in Broadcast Communications from Barton College in Wilson, North Carolina before being ordained worked as a television news anchor. He later received his Master of Divinity degree from the Virginia Theological Seminary in Alexandria, Virginia.

Robert's interests outside church include hiking, sailing, fly-fishing, cycling, golf, as well as singing and song-writing.

    I am responsible for the maintenance of our building. If you ever have a question about our facilities, don't hesitate to ask me.

     
  • Ann T. Piper, Children & Youth Ministry Director
    I grew up in Barrington and was baptized and confirmed here at St. John's Church. My family and I returned to Barrington and St. John's in 2001.

    Since taking this position at St. John's, the children here have continued to be involved in many activities and ministries. In addition to our Church School, for children and youth Pre-K through High School, we have brought back the Children's Chapel, made Valentine cards for those in need, and made sandwiches for the hungry in our community. We also treasure our annual children's Christmas pageant.

    I have a B.A. in Psychology from Wheaton College and a M.A.T- C in Elementary Education from Rhode Island College. I have a wonderful husband, Greg and two beautiful daughters, Julia and Erin. My passion is working with children of all ages and I am honored to serve in this position.

  • Joan Warren, Communications Editor
    Joan came to St. John's in May of 2006 and continues to keep the parish up-to-date with the weekly bulletin and the monthly newsletter, The Tower. In addition to her position here at our church, Joan is a reporter with The Barrington Times newspaper and is also a real estate agent. Joan is a graduate of Rhode Island College and is involved in many volunteer opportunities in the community. She and her husband Peter live in Barrington and have two children, John and Catherine.

  • Ray Buttero, Organist
    Raymond Buttero holds both a Bachelor's and Master's Degree from the New England Conservatory of Music, and has also studied at the Julliard School of Music. He is currently on the faculty of the University of Rhode Island, and serves as the assistant conductor for the Swanhurst Chorus, the Litchfield County C horal Union and the Greater Tiverton Community Chorus. In addition to being a noted area recitalist and accompanist, he has given numerous solo performances both in the United States and abroad, including appearances at Jordan Hall, Boston; Carnegie Recital Hall, NYC; Academia Olga Levi, Venice, Italy. He currently holds the position of Organist/Choirmaster at St. John's Episcopal Church.
